Products for Dry/Dehydrated Skin

IMG_1337-0

I thought I switch gears a bit and do a skin care post because my skin gets really dehydrated during Fall and Winter. These are routines that work well for me. I have normal to combination skin but it gets dehydrated occasionally so I’m super anal about replenishing & hydration!

Number 1: Use different cleanser in the day and night.

Day (gentle): Mango Seed Cleanser from The Face Shop

Night (stronger): Egg Mousse Soap Facial Cleanser (I used to use Shisedo’s Whitening facial cleanser which is also a good one)

I use a relatively stronger cleanser for night and a gentler cleanser in the morning for obvious reasons. At night, I’m back from a long day out and about and sometime with makeup. I want to ensure I use a stronger cleanser to clean my face thoroughly. In the morning, however, I only have the skin’s natural oil, so I use a very mild cleanser so I don’t dry out my skin.

Number 2: Apply moisture based toner multiple times

Product I use: Biotherm’s Biosource soothing Toner for Dry Skin

I’ve had this for awhile and really like it because it’s gentle on the skin and decently priced. In the Fall and Winter when my skin gets dehydrated, I pat this toner on my face 4 times to ensure full absorption (sometimes even 8). That’s why I prefer inexpensive toners because you can imagine I can use up this bottle quite quickly.

Number 3: Gently exfoliate once or twice a week

Product I use: BOSCIA Exfoliating Peel Gel

This just gets rid of dead skin and debris that have accumulated over the week. Exfoliating cleans your skin well and it’s best accompanied with a hydrating mask after cleansing.

Number 4: Moisturizing masks 2-3 times a week

I like to use cucumber-based, aloe-based, or honey-based masks because they are naturally hydrating and gentle on the skin so they don’t deprive your skin of the natural oil. I don’t spend a huge amount of money of masks. I usually buy $2 masks from The Face Shop, Tony Moly, or Sephora.

Number 5: Sleeping masks (for lazy days XD)

Product I use: LANEIGE Water sleeping mask.

I like to use this one because you can just go to sleep with it and I can feel the difference the next morning. This mask just locks moisture in and makes my skin feel dewy and hydrated.
